Should I buy armor???
I finally made it to amoon Oasis (or something like that, the first ascension mission) today!!!!! However I have a nagging question. Should I buy armor here? I currently have the AL 30 of Lion's Arch (I'm a necromancer) and have received advice to wait to Draknor's Forge but also advice to buy it before the ascension missions. I have heard that some of the ascension missions are hard. Any advice is welcome

If you have the materials, go for it. I found not buying the newest armour hindered my performance. Although, I travelled with henchmen throughout the entire game (somewhat) so that could've been the problem there.

I used the collectors. They offer the highest basic armor, no fancy extras, but it will get the job done until you get to Marhan or Granite for your 15k.

Get desert collectors.
I buy the best armor from ascalon and then get desert collector and then get droknars armor (best armor in game). Or I buy ascalon and get a rush from beacons to droknars and get that armor skipping the collectors. No need to buy armor too often. The increase is inadequate and not worth the price. |

If you can survive in the desert dont bother wasting time or money (materials) on armor. If youre having alot of problems, go for it.
I always buy the first set of armor, post sear, then wait until Droknars to buy again, never had an issue. |

Me, I've been buying the best armor as I go along. Sure it means I'm not as rich as some people (only got ~13K gold), but I'm happy and can deal with the fight's I get into. I guess it's just a personal preference really.. if your not having any problems then don't bother with new armor.. but if your finding yourself dying or nearly dying all too often.. then I'd strongly advise getting the best armor you can to get through that point |

Same here. The 15k stuff is for n00bs who like to farm. Droknars will work just as well. Of course, if you have a bunch of gold left and nothing to spend it on you can feel free to go get the stuff out of Marhan's or Granite (or the FoW for that matter). Just don't waist your money on the stuff until then. |

I'm female (as are most of my avatars), and I like the vanity of the 15k armor.

No, save your money and buy the armor at Droknar's Forge.

On my next character, I will definetly do things differently. I bought armor way too often. Being a Mesmer makes you a target too often, but I should have just gotten a run to Droknars then farmed for money and supplies.
My armor is consisted of 2 pieces of Droknar's, 2 pieces of Desert Collectors. And then the masks I bought at the Forge. The majority of the cost of my armor actually came from all the dye I put it in. Counting my 3 masks, and 4 pieces of Armor I used 2 Blue 2 Purple 3 Silver 1 Yellow 1 Orange 5 Black To be more specific Mask 1: Gold. Sleek Mask, Yellow + Orange on a shiny mask Mask 2: Black, Male Domination Mask, only way it looks any good Mask 3: Silver, Costime Mask, again only way it looks good. Coat: Desert Stylish, Blue+Purple+Black+Silver, in that order Gloves: Forge Enchanters: Black Pants: Forge Enchanters: Black Boots: Desert Stylish, Same as Coat. Needless to say, screw the Ascention Armor, mine rocks. |

You're a necromancer, don't buy armor until Droknars. You should not be getting hit enough to require needing new armor right now. Stay back and cast whatever you like to cast. Don't act like Claude and tank everything.

Here's hoping you do indeed stay way back of the battle.
This is going to sound mean, and I am not directing this at you personally because I have been the monk in this situation, but if the monk has to spend all their energy keeping you alive, instead of healing the warriors, well, .... you need new armor. EDIT: But I only go for collectors' armor myself -- can't beat free stuff! |
